Writer's Block - Just Jack

Title: Writer's Block
Artist: Just Jack
Album: Overtones
Year: 1997

This song is Writer's block by Just Jack. I'm not sure exactly how to describe his music or this song. He does some different things with his lyrics and his beats and somehow pulls off a very good sound. The album Overtones is a very good album and I would recommend it to almost anyone. Some of the sounds he lays out are wonderous.

TQ - Westside (Denver Remix)

Title: Westside (Denver remix)
Artist: TQ
Album: They Never Saw Me Coming (unreleased)
Genre: R&B
Year: 1998

This song used to be one of my favorite songs on the radio. I like the original song and this version is real close to the original. The only difference is the places they mention are in Denver rather than California. Growing up in Denver, it made this song better. The vocals and instrumentals mix very well.

Glycerine - Bush

Artist: Bush
Song: Glycerine
Album: Sixteen Stone
Genre: Post-Grunge
year: 1994

This is one of my favorite songs from this movement. I love the use of the guitar as well as how the vocalist sounds with the music. Bush was and still is one of my favorite bands. This is their best song off of their best album in my opinion. Although old I never get old of hearing this song. This song was also parodied on The Simpsons episode called "That 90's show" That version is posted below. All in all this is a song I think everyone should listen to at least once.

Today I decided to post a song from one of my favorite underground hip hop scenes: Seattle. This is not my favorite artist from this scene but he is very good. The verses have a nice clean sound with a great background tune.If you like hip hop i suggest looking into some of the artists out of the Northwest. It might pleasantly surprise you.

Call On Me (Original Mix) - Eric Prydz

Title: Call on me
Artist: Eric Prydz
Album: Call on me (single)
genre: Electronica

So today I decided to stay with the same general genre of the last post. This song is from the German artist Eric Prydz. It is a remix of an older song: Valerie by Steve Winwood. I find the rhythm and bass to be extremely well done. The sample he uses throughout the song is masterfully used to its maximum potential. I heard this song recently and immediately liked this song.

Magnetic North - So Long

Title: So Long
Artist: Magnetic North
Album: Magnetic North
Year:2006

Magnetic North is one of my favorite groups still active in Hip-hop. With the quality of music that they put out, I am surprised that they haven't gone mainstream yet. This is one of my favorite songs from their debut self-titled album. They really know how to write lyrics while combining it with a clean hip hop sound. Made up of 2 mc's with radically different styles, they somehow find a way to blend their styles together seamlessly. I think that they could get even better in the future as they have amazing potential. I'll probably end up posting more of their songs later on.

This song was pretty successful around the world reaching number one on many singles charts and peaking at #20 on the Billboard hot 100. Personally I don't like the video but that might just be me lol.

First post

Well since this is the first post, I think that I should make an attempt at some sort of introduction. This blog is dedicated to Music in general. The posts will usually be about a certain song or album and will usually just be the first song I think of when i sit down to blog. Growing up i listened to all types of music including Kpop, Rock, Hip hop, Electronica, alternative, etc. I love music and that's why i decided to dedicate this blog to all types of music. I'll try to update this blog at least frequently. Feel free to comment if you like. Any questions, comments, or suggestions for future posts can be sent to Darkfire1992@yahoo.com.

So I guess I'll start with a song from back in the day.
Artist: Snoop Dogg feat. Master P., Nate Dogg, Butch Cassidy and tha Eastsidaz
Album: Tha Last Meal
Year: 2000
Song Title: Lay Low

My thoughts: Back in the day this was one of my favorite hip hop songs. I was never a big fan of Snoop dogg because I never really got into his style. But the production by Dr. Dre on this song along with the collaboration with Nate Dogg and Butch Cassidy really made this track stand out. This was a good song during a time when hip hop was thriving. I like to think of it as the golden age.
